What do you know about Unitarian Universalist?
by Eyebrow ini have read on their website that then are a noncreed religion, and welcome all sorts of views and that they encourage their members to be active in community and charities, etc,.
what do you guys know about this church?
i was thinking about checking one of the churches out around here.

my experience of the UU was a church for agnostics---it functions like a protestant church but without any set orthodox beliefs. more like a social club for those who dont know THE TRUTH and dont believe any particular group does either...and come to gether to share a sort of vague spiritual hunger and a communal feeding of the same. they had a paid clergyman who from what I could tell was an atheist at the UU I attended. I stopped going principly because it was on the other side of town and seemed to much like a business for me.

Im confused about the Trinity, and who believes it Help please
by WingCommander injust to recap, ive had a nice baptist pastor stopping by my house about once a month for the past 8 months.a very kind soul, we always have the most interesting discussions.him learning about how i was raised as a jw and their belief system, and i learning about his being born again, the trinity, heaven, views on armageddon, etc.
it has all been very interesting, me being raised a jw and now hearing what another denomination believes, especially about the 144,000 and why they feel it isn't a literal number.
also, i am on his regular "field ministry,", and this is shocking to me as i was always taught the other religions don't go door to door like us, with the exception of mormons - lds.. anyway, he made the comment to me that very view christian denominations did not believe in the trinity.he stated that really only small handful of denominations such as jws, mormons, and a few other cultic types dont accept the trinity.this was shocking to me, because asjw i always believed most everyone outside of catholicism and lutheranism believed as jw did, that jesus was gods son, and a totally separate created being.

even for the off the docks christians... the trinity is one of those things you have to SAY you believe, but really nothing more. most of them will say-- the trinity is true...but in practice they talk like any JW assigning the FATHER sole godship and Jesus a subordinate position. the holy spirit is sometimes spoken of as a person and sometimes as a thing... Just like non-trinitarians do. it really boils down to a silly debate like those who follow the holy sandal vs those who follow the holy gord [see life of brian].

The trinity to me is one of the most obviously bogus doctrines every invented by the mind of arrogant men... but it does give christianity milage in that it makes god totally in comprehensible and that is a good thing to the masses who dont want the real god to be too easy to understand. the JW god is literally a very angry man made large. While that matches the bible, it does not make for a realistic godlike being.

The JW experience....is the soul ever healed?...A BIG RANT.

it came back to me in huge drowning waves that i cannot describe.
the anger, depression, humiliation..... do any of us ever get to recover totally?

when you transcend the idea that reality can ever be wrong, you can see that all aspects of reality happen because of the true nature of reality and that mythlogical concepts like freewill cause you to believe that things could have been other than they were... but if you re-wound reality and played it back again, there would have to happen what did happen because you can only change things by the insertion of things which obviously did not happen... fantasy.
once you realize that the past is ghost that can only haunt you with the power you give it...you can avoid giving it that power.
to understand how you give it that power, you must realize that you are comparing what you remembered happening to a FALSE fantasy of what some part of you believes should have happened instead.
if you accept exactly what DID happen as the ONLY unfolding of reality, it cannot harm you any more. -

What would you say to this........
by fifi40 inyesterday my friends 14 year old son died after a lenghty stay in hospital.
he had cystic fibrosis and in september caught an infection resulting in him spending pretty much the rest of his time in ic during which he suffered 2 heart attacks and was on life support and for the final few weeks has not been conscious due to medication.
sadly he lost his battle yesterday.. he was a little chap who i knew and was friends with my son from first day at primary school.

if someone dies prior to the big A and never heard JWs preach...they get ressurrected
if someone hears and turns away, they get ressurected as long as they never made formal steps to learn...
if they die in the big A they are toast.
if they become a JW and turn away they are toast.
suicide = self murder = you are toast.
why not kill everyone who does not know about JWs? = you are committing murder = you are toast.
if you tell someone they are better off dying before the big A= they have formal instruction about it and = they are toast.
so if you are lucky enough to avoid JWs and die before the big A you get where every hard working JW who has wasted their whole life can not get if they mess up at the end.... -

what i've been wondering is: how would such a scenario play out in real life?
